Overview

VidraNote is a local-first Chrome extension for YouTube. It does not require an account, does not use a developer backend, and does not include advertising, analytics, cookies, or third-party tracking.

Data VidraNote Processes

VidraNote reads YouTube page content that is required for its study, note-taking, transcript, categorization, and filtering features. This may include current video metadata, channel information, visible page state, and other YouTube page content needed for those features to work.

When transcript features are used, VidraNote may request caption-track data directly from YouTube so it can display or store transcript content locally for the user.

Local Storage

VidraNote stores user data locally in the browser using Chrome extension storage and IndexedDB. Locally stored data may include notes, transcripts, settings, categories, hidden or trusted channels, Focus Lock state, current video metadata, and note screenshots.

This data stays on the user's device/browser profile unless the user exports, shares, syncs, or otherwise moves it through their own actions or browser settings.

No Sale or Sharing of User Data

VidraNote does not sell user data. VidraNote does not use user data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or third-party tracking.

VidraNote has no developer-operated backend server and no account system, so the developer does not receive, store, or manage user notes, transcripts, settings, screenshots, or YouTube usage data.

How to Remove Local Data

Users can remove VidraNote's locally stored data by deleting their notes and settings inside the extension, clearing the extension's site or browser storage, or uninstalling the VidraNote extension from Chrome. Browser-level storage controls may vary by Chrome version and operating system.
